It was as early as 3:30 in the morning when I joined in fastening tarpaulin guides all over the race route. The council had already been busy and some even didn’t sleep in preparation for yet another first in the history of Engineering happening at the college centennial – Eng’gfinity!

Eng’gfinity is the UP Diliman College of Engineering’s first-ever run with more than 400 registrants coming from the 8 departments and institutes of the Engineering as well as alumni and those frequent runners outside UP who visited the university for the fun run. The centennial race has three divisions – 2.2K circumferencing the famous Academic Oval, the 5K and the 10K.

Not just the overwhelming attendance, Eng’gfinity is also boasting its RFID shoe tag provided by Itemhound which is capable of timing each runner’s lapse and providing the results few minutes after the runner has checked out.

Eng’gfinity is one of the events of the centennial Engineering Cup. Part of the proceeds from the run will go to PhoenICs, a rehabilitation program of the university’s Institute of Chemistry wherein its pavilion met a fire accident few months ago. Eng’gfinity is proudly presented by the Engineering Student Council, Canon, P&G, Chris Sports, 100 Plus, Hotel Sogo, Sanuk, Itemhound and UP Health Service.

I captured some of the sweat and sweet smiles of the runners which only show that Eng’gfinity was a great success and enjoyment from infinity and beyond!

For the complete set of pictures, watch it out from my Facebook and Multiply accounts. UPDATE: It is now uploaded here! The results of the Eng’gfinity can be downloaded here.

P.S. I saw my Math 54 seatmate ran. The lens caught her smile. She’s so pretty, I’m gonna die!

Facebuko, Jonas Roque

Facebuko is a blog updated with fake (no matter how close the statuses and responses are) yet funny statuses of well-known personalities, celebrities and fictional characters both local and international. It is a good alternative to Facebook when the latter is blocked in your office or in your school. Or you might agree with Joey Alarilla of .CNet Asia, that you wouldn’t need Facebook when we already have Facebuko.

As young as a year old, Facebuko has been featured on Qtube (my first TV appearance) and Myx’s Magazine. Hopefully, Facebuko.com will nail it to the elite list of Influential Bloggers of 2010. It is the most visited humor blog in the Philippines according to Top Blogs.

Ambigrams turn us around. Ambigrams turn our world upside down.

This hobby of mine started when I wanted to impress someone by creating a rotational ambigram of her name. It turned out quite okay yet needed more improvement. So I scribbled a lot more and ended up nearly a hundred of ambigrams to date.

Tokikot is a palindrome wordplay of the anagram “ikot” and “toki”. Rotational and ring ambigrams, which some of my favorite masterpieces are showcased here, may be read not only in its original form as presented but also from another direction or angle. Try rotating and reading the images counterclockwise or clockwise and see the imba-ness of them.

I’m selling very limited edition of Peyups shirts for only Php100 each. I also do commission ambigram works.

Indeed, code (of program) is poetry. For years, I’ve been programming for work or in leisure and continuously learning and applying technologies such as Java, .NET, PHP, JSP, Google Web Toolkit, SAP, Oracle and mySQL.

Dubbed as the orange Facebook of the College of Engineering, the newest student tambayan is a website that I developed and currently administering which offers college news feed, groups and forums and a personal account. EnggIsko.net is definitely the website for Engineering students and by Engineering students.

The Engineering Student Council is the primary student organization of the College of Engineering. It is comprised of 43 engineering student leaders coming from different courses. The council serves over 5000 bright future engineers. The ESC organizes university-renowned events that has garnered the excitement and interest of the students.

This year, the college celebrates its 100th year. The ESC will raise it legacy to greater heights as the college celebrates its centennial.
